Rights and obligations in Cambridge social ontology

Abstract Rights and obligations—sometimes referred to as deontology or deontic powers—are key most contemporary conceptions of social ontology. Both Cambridge Social Ontology the dominant analytic conception associated, prominently, with John Searle, place rights obligations at centre their accounts. Such a common emphasis has led some consider be point similarity between these different theories. This is mistake. In this paper, I show that distinctive underpins its positioning theory. Moreover, argue fuller understanding account defended in fact reveals it can differentiated from other and, importantly, Searle's, by recognition practical dimension always involved constitution.
